Building on over 15 years of proven technology, Moderniek combined the original Bagtipper (2010) with patented CartTipper innovations into a next-generation solution. The Bagtipper G2 integrates simultaneous ULD infeed and outfeed, advanced tilt and shake algorithms, a dedicated ULD door holding mechanism, and tilting separation conveyors.

Every container behaves differently. The Bagtipper uses advanced ULD recognition to identify the container type and automatically select the optimal unloading algorithm.
Based on this detection, the system applies tailored tilt and motion sequences to ensure complete and controlled unloading of each ULD.
After unloading, baggage is automatically detected and singulated using advanced control logic. Through controlled transitions and intelligent flow separation, the system ensures a smooth and continuous baggage stream.

The Bagtipper G2 is designed to handle both wide-body and narrow-body aircraft within a single system.
This is enabled by replacing traditional baggage carts with Airport Containers: robust, airport-dedicated containers transported on dollies.
Both Airport Containers and standard ULDs (AKE and AKH) can be unloaded fully automatically. The system supports simultaneous infeed and outfeed, allowing continuous operation without interruptions.
Airport Containers are designed without sharp edges or internal obstructions. This ensures optimal baggage flow and enables exceptionally high unloading performance.

The Bagtipper is a field-proven ULD handling system, developed in close collaboration with both the operator (KLM) and the airport authority (Amsterdam Airport Schiphol).

Baggage Cart Unloading
Cart Tipper
The Cart Tipper is a patented system designed to efficiently unload baggage carts used on airport aprons. Traditional unloading methods are physically demanding and time-consuming. The Cart Tipper automates this process and significantly improves ergonomics and operational efficiency.
Baggage carts or cart trains are positioned in the system and disconnected from the tractor. The Cart Tipper then tilts the carts in a controlled manner, allowing baggage to be gently transferred onto separation conveyors. These conveyors guide the baggage smoothly towards the baggage handling system or directly to the carousel.
Depending on the number of carts and the loading conditions, the system achieves capacities of 800 to 1200 bags per hour. The compact footprint allows easy integration into existing airport infrastructure.

ULD Transport Systems
Efficient transport of Unit Load Devices (ULDs) is essential for safe and reliable baggage and cargo operations. Moderniek develops automated transport systems that move ULD containers between dollies, processing stations and storage areas.
After arrival of the dollies, containers can be transferred automatically onto the internal transport system. From there, they are transported to processing stations such as unloading systems or loading equipment. After processing, the containers can be returned automatically to the dollies.
These systems reduce vehicle movements in baggage basements, improve safety and optimise the use of available space.

Baggage Handling Systems
Efficient baggage handling requires reliable orientation and separation of bags to prevent jams and ensure a continuous flow throughout the handling process. Moderniek develops high-capacity systems that automatically orient and position baggage before it enters the main baggage handling system.
Using smart conveyor transitions, independently driven conveyors and height differences, baggage can be separated efficiently while reducing manual handling and system interruptions.
Bagliner
The Bagliner automatically positions baggage using vision technology. Two rotating wheels move the bags into the correct orientation so that the short side faces forward. Each bag is centred on the conveyor before continuing to the next stage of the baggage handling process.
The system operates reliably on a compact footprint and achieves a capacity of approximately 1,200 bags per hour.
Upwheeler
The Upwheeler prevents bag jams caused by luggage resting on wheels or standing upright on the conveyor. By rotating baggage 90 or 180 degrees, the system ensures the correct orientation and improves the reliability of the baggage flow.

CargoTipper
The CargoTipper is a fully automatic system designed for unloading cargo ULDs such as AKE and AKH containers.
Building on more than 15 years of proven tipper technology, the CargoTipper combines advanced tilt and shake algorithms with a door holding mechanism and tilting separation conveyors. These technologies allow cargo to be unloaded efficiently while protecting the goods.
Each container is recognised automatically, after which the system selects the optimal unloading algorithm. Cargo items are then separated and transferred onto conveyors for further processing.
